Taste of Chicago
Taste of Chicago is an annual event that happens in the summer on June 24 through July 3 located at Grant Park on Michigan Ave. & Congress Dr. Chicago IL 60604. The timings are for days June 24 through July 2nd are 11:00 A.M. - 8:30 P.M. and on July 3rd the timings are 11:00 A.M - 6 P.M.
CTA bus lines #145 or #151 to Monroe/Michigan stop. Grant Park is also walking distance east from Loop Red and Blue line subway stops.
There are no admission fees but you do need to pay for the food and drinks. The food and drinks are sold by tickets and one strip of 8 tickets costs $12.
Taste of Chicago is great for the whole family. It offers a great variety of restaurants with all cultures, 59 restaurants to be exact. There are great musical acts with genres going from Country to Rock to Celtic to Rythym and Blues. On June 26, 2011 the 19th annual Humana Race to Taste 5k Run/2 Mile Walk sets place at Grant Park. There are also great family activities for all ages featuring games, arts and crafts at the Family Pavillion. There are gravity defying acrobats and great aerobic performers come together at Grant Park. Shows are daily at 12 PM, 2 PM, 4 PM, and 6 PM. The Playground is place for daily fun activities and shows including fitness, sports, tumbling, dance, art, culture, and nature. There is also fun backyard games,obstacle courses, scavenger hunts and the imagination playground. There is even more at the Taste of Chicago!
The great Taste of Chicago is the largest food festival. It was first brought up by the mayor in 1980 when the thought of a food festival came to his mind on the 4th of July. His idea was an instant success attracting 250,000 people. Then the following year because of it's success the festival moved to Grant Park. Now it has moved it's way up to the second largest tourist attraction in Illinois.
